P7 are participating in the Wool Innovators Project 2026. Hilltown is known as “The Gateway to the Mournes” so we decided we couldn’t participate in a project like this without looking into the history of sheep farming in our area.
We invited four grandparents into our school to talk to us about sheep farming over the years. We were lucky to have a wealth of knowledge between them all.
Mary Savage, Paddy Woods, Joseph Walls and Denis O’Prey shared their memories over the years and talked about sheep grazing on the mountains.
