P6 Titanic Museum Trip
Primary Six enjoyed a wonderful self-guided tour of Titanic Museum Belfast and boarded the RMS Nomadic on Monday.
The boys and girls gained a great insight into life in Boom-Town Belfast in the 1900s, discovered what life was life as a riveter working for Harland and Wolff, and they read the plans which Thomas Andrew’s and his White Star Line Crew designed for the ‘Unsinkable’ Titanic.
After that, the boys and girls enjoyed exploring the various first, second and third class cabins, before learning about Titanic’s fateful maiden voyage, whereby she collided with an iceberg and sank off the coast of Newfoundland, killing over 1500 passengers and crew. Then they learned about Titanic’s discovery in 1985.
The RMS Nomadic gave the pupils the opportunity to board a real White Star Line Ship, enjoy promenade games and dress up in early 1900 attire.
P6 were amazed by the multimedia exhibitions and brought home lovely souvenirs from the museum shop. A wonderful day out!
