Novena to the Sacred Heart
Mrs Austin’s primary five were delighted to take part in Dromore Diocese Online Novena to the Sacred Heart as a last minute addition! Our children did a wonderful job on a very hot day. Each day has a different theme, ours was Communion. You can find all the videos uploaded every evening at 7pm on the Dromore Diocese FB page.
A big thank you to Caitlin McParland who taught our children a lovely hymn, accompanied by her lovely guitar playing and Frances McNally (Diocesan youth director) who came to meet our children and explain the importance of prayer.
Novena to the Sacred Heart
O Divine Jesus, who said,
“Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.”
From whom shall I ask if not from you, whose heart is the source of all blessings? With a lively faith in you, I kneel at your feet, and behold, in your name, I ask the Father for this favour…
Silence to allow each person mention their need to the Sacred Heart.
We pray for all the girls and boys who have received their First Communion – may they always know that Jesus lives in their heart.
We pray for all our parents and guardians – we thank them for teaching us our prayers – may we always remember to say our prayers.
We thank God for our schools – we thank them for the great work they do – may we continue to love Jesus as they have taught us.
I admit I am most unworthy of your favours, Jesus, but this is not a reason for me to be discouraged. You are the God of mercies and you will not refuse a contrite heart. Look with pity on me, I beg you, and your compassionate Heart will find in my weakness a motive for granting my request.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me.
Amen.
Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be to the Father…
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
Concluding Prayer
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your tender Mother and ours.
Hail, Holy Queen, mother of mercy, hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O most holy Mother of God, That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
Amen.
