P6 enjoyed a modelled reading lesson on an Irish Times newspaper from 1845, when blight was first discovered in Ireland. Whilst reading, Mrs Clarke demonstrated the style, structure and language features of a newspaper and encouraged the children to predict the main idea of each section. In pairs, the children were able to search, highlight and annotate the features of a newspaper.
